2004 Children’s Tournament
Tournament Philosophy: In our martial arts class there are 3 main rules that I have established with the kids since their first day of training. 1. Listen to all instructions and pay attention the best that you can... 2. Try hard to put forth your best effort at all times... and last, but always stressed as the most important 3. Always be respectful of others... these are 3 simple rules by which we measure ourselves in our training. The tournament will be run in the same fashion. All of the children who have listened in class and worked hard on their routines will have an opportunity to compete in this year's tournament. The kids have helped one another to make all of the routines as good as they can be. The tournament is not about winning first place over one of your classmates, it is about winning against yourself. Victory for each student will be defined differently. For one student it may be descibed as the courage that it takes to get into a ring in front of 100+ spectators and do a form that they have only been practicing for a few months. For another student it may be the focus and concentration that they spent for many hours leading up to the competition. Because each student has challenged themselve to grow and become better, every single student is victorious in my eyes. For this reason every student will recieve a trophy for their hard work and determination.
