2011 Summer Programs for Kids
Philosophy Towards Teaching:
The emphasis of the children's class is to create a positive learning environment in which students can safely learn martial arts. Every child is different, but all students are encouraged to do the best they can to reach their individual potential. Through listening and putting effort into every class children will develop physically (increased strength, flexibility, balance and coordination) and mentally (increased confidence, determination, patience and self-esteem). The mental and physical discipline they develop will serve them throughout their lives.
Program Description
Our summer program is designed for students (ages 7-16) who range from beginner to black belt. This one-week program will include 15 hours of kung fu training, and will be taught by Mark Carletti, Ph.D., Tufts University (5th Degree Black Belt) and Karen Gutterman (1st Degree Black Belt.) With hard work, focus and dedication to practice a student can accomplish in one week, what would normally take 2-3 months in regular classes during the school year. The student will enjoy themselves with fun activities that develop better focus and concentration, increase physical coordination, flexibility and confidence, and help teach values of patience, respect & discipline.
