Kung Fu The emphasis of the Kung Fu program is to create a positive learning environment for students to challenge themselves both mentally and physically. The goal of Kung Fu training is for each individual to reach their full potential. The forms and training (e.g., Shaolin Longfist, Southern Fist, Tiger and Staff) are designed to improve the bodys strength, flexibility, endurance, coordination and control. More importantly, these movements will challenge the student to improve patience, focus, and will power. Through diligent and consistent training, students continue to achieve goals that they once thought were out of reach. |
|
| Since most martial arts are derived from China, or Chinese style martial arts, Kung fu training incorporates all of the major kicks found in Tae kwon doe, the joint locks found in Ai Ki Do (or Chin Na), all of the falls, rolls and throws incorporated in Judo, and all of the hand strikes used in Karate. The northern longfist styles are more open and athletic which makes them great for developing flexibility, balance and coordination. The southern styles typically emphasize "rooting" and strength of posture, thus developing power and making the style effective for short range self-defense. Weapons, such as long staff, broad sword and spear, challenge the practioner to extend their focus and control beyond their body and into a weapon, developing higher levels of concentration and coordination, as well as strength and flexibility. (Instructors Mark Carletti and Jordan Vinarub) | |

Tai Chi & Qigong Tai Chi differs from Kung Fu training in both form and intensity. In general, the postures are higher and the movements are slower, allowing the practitioner to focus more on breathing, fluidity, exact body alignment and relaxation. Through the practice of the 24-step Yang style form and a variety of Qigong breathing sets, this class will focus on learning correct breathing, relaxation, balance, strength and flexibility. The goal of this program is to improve the bodys overall health and energy level (by strengthening the respiratory system, the immune system and improving circulation) and is appropriate for students of all ages. This program is perfect for individuals who would like to learn how to reduce stress. (Instructors Mark Carletti and Geoff Ward) |

Childrens Classes The emphasis of the childrens class is to create a positive learning environment in which students can safely learn martial arts. Every child is different, but all students are encouraged to do the best they can to reach their individual potential. Through listening and putting effort into every class children will develop physically (increased strength, flexibility, balance and coordination) and mentally (increased confidence, determination, patience and self-esteem).
